Received a call from this number on my cell. The male who called me opened his conversation with a “THIS LINE IS MONITORED AND RECORDED, MAY I SPEAK WITH (FIRST AND LAST NAME)? I advised this person that I don’t take these kinds of calls (referring to the recording/monitoring of the phone call) and that They have the wrong phone number for a (first name and last name) and I disconnected the call after that statement. You have to be very careful accepting any call from random people who has to record your conversation or even monitor the conversation as this is done to make them sound more official and you’d be more likely to take their phone call and if you accept these type of calls especially where you are being greeted by some person who seems to have your first and last name in addition to wanting to record or monitor the call. Scammers are notorious for opening their calls with a greeting that states your call is being monitored or recorded before they attempt to obtain from you what they need in order to steal from you or obtain even more personal identity related information to commit fraud in your name or turn around and sell that information to others for a price. Lastly, be careful if you owe money on a account that has gone to collections because collection agencies call people or attempt to locate a individual who is listed on a debt they paid pennies on the dollar from a creditor so they can say legally that you have been located you accept responsibility for their so called account ( which has most likely been charged off ) by your original creditors and you are not legally obligated to pay any collection agency anything if your creditors charged off your account with them or even if they asked the collections agency to collect on the debt because the burden of proof that you are responsible for the amount they say you owe and the only way you are held accountable to pay a collections agency anything is if they get you on tape accepting responsibility for the debt and most of the calls from persons who want to record or monitor your call is a collections agency that wants to get you to admit to an account they have in your name so they can start taking actions against you even garnish your wages if they get you on take accepting responsibility for a debt. That why you don’t take any chances any kind of phone call coming in that says they are monitoring our recording the call and they ask for you go ahead and tell them that they have the wrong number and hang up the phone don’t talk with them any further don’t listen to them and another thing if you have received a phone call where are you must discuss financial information of any kind over that call then you are opening yourself up for scam you should never take any phone calls that relate to financial basis or ask for your Social Security number or wants you to verify her last four of your social or your address with them before they talk to you about with why they are calling this is an attempt to get your personal information and they will do Very bad things with your name if they are able to get that information from you so to be safe do not take any kind of debt related calls any calls relating to financial means or any other type of means even medical means over a telephone line never released your Social Security number your last four of your social and your date of birth never released any personal details about you over a telephone line. If they are official they can deal with you through the mail that is the safest way to go always deny that they are reaching the right person say that you have the wrong number even if they are asking for your name and immediately disconnect the call. If you say that you have the wrong number when even when they ask for you that will be a for sure way to stop all further calls from people at or from that agency if they think they have the wrong number they’re not gonna call your number back and you’ll stop getting calls thank you hope this information helps people.
