Caller listened to my greeting, which is intended to deter scammers, or at least allowed it to play, and then disconnected. Lookups reveal no apparent owner for the number, so my guess is that it was spoofed, and hence some sort of dishonest activity. Certainly no intent to actually talk to ME.

In a lot of cases they get paid for every pick up call even though they don't get to fleece you. If it's anybody important or that you know they will leave a message on voice mail.
