Man calling himself Gene Thompson working for Sterling National Bank claimed I was approved for $5,000 loan but had to pay $200 insurance policy in order to receive the loan. I looked for Gene Thompson on Sterling National Bank website. No Gene Thompson listed. He also gave me an extension number 1014. So I did reverse look up on Google and discovered another person had same scam pulled the day before with the same number. My caller ID listed it as being in Delmar, NY.
I was contacted yesterday (12-06-2021) saying that I was approved for a $5,000
Guy pretended to be with sterling national bank suppoSedly approved me cor a $5000 loan but needed 200 for payment protection insurance. Says it needs to be paid before the loan can be approved. The first time i called back after seeing a missed call the guy just said hello, didnt represent his business he supposedly worked for which seemed sketchy. The next time i call back the same Indian guy says ""thank you for calling sterling national bank"" same exact guy. Obviously a cell phone and not a business phone
