We had a message from this number yesterday, saying that we had a charge for $499.89 on our Amazon account. If we did not purchase something, would we call them (supposedly ""Amazon Support"") and so on. Of course, it was a scam and of course, we did not return the call.
I got the same call that my account got charged with the exact same amount ($579.99). It came in as text on my google voice phone. I didn't bother to call back. I was curious, so I just googled in number and found this thread. It sure is a scam because I don't see any changes on amazon account.

As many times as I've read not to call the number they leave, I was so concerned about this fraudulent charge that I did call that number. Man with strong accent answered and, after verifying that I did not order the iphone, he said he needed to have me download the refund form. I'm thinking 'this isn't right', but OK, I started following his directions. Then he got access to my computer! I managed to use my mouse and get it over to shut down the computer before he could do anything else. He then was upset with me (I won't get my refund, etc.....) and continued talking to someone there in a foreign language before hanging up. I'm embarrassed to say I fell for this.

My wife answered the phone and the person said someone in Ohio was trying to charge $500 to our Amazon account. They send a message and she completed the email information, telephone number and then hit submit. The person said he was from Amazon. Thank goodness she called me and I talked with him. I first looked up caller I.D. and it was some International reference bs. Person with accent and I asked him what number he was calling from, etc. He said he called me and then I let him have it. I called Amazon and reported along with security check through Apple customer service.

Received message that a purchase was made on my card (did not give name of card) for $79.99. It said if you did not make this call the amazon support team (at this reported number). When I called, a heavy accented man answered and there sounded like 50 people in the background. I asked what card, he said do you have a computer? turn it on and I will send you something. I asked where are you calling from because it sounds like alot of people there, and lo and behold, he hung up!! Perfect scam response when challenged!!
