Not a scam. Because many credit unions are too small to offer their own independent credit card infrastructure, they have banded together to brand cards through a broader organization, which is why they don't name the specific credit union. But they do provide the real last digits of your card. I had a transaction declined on my credit union card, then received this call the next morning. It's probably legitimate.
1st call: RECORDING warning of suspicious cr card activity 2nd call: about 4 hrs later, same number but no msg--only dead air. Scarey they used name on my cr card (nee name) and had last 4 digits of cr card
“Hello this is the fraud detection department for your credit Union calling for (name). we would like to verify recent activity on your credit Union Visa credit card ending in (last 4 digits of accounts please contact us toll-free at 844-386-9808 at your earliest convenience we are available 24 hours a day seven days a week again that number is 844-386-9808 thank you goodbye” I just check my union’s fraud detection hotline online and it isn’t this number! Scam!!!
received a voicemail from this number stating they were calling from the fraud dept from my credit union regarding charges on my cu credit card. it sounded like a recording, with a separate computer-gernerated voice reading my name, and they gave the last 4 digits of one of my cards. they did not give the name of my credit union. i checked my card - nothing posted. ill verify with my cu, but seems kinda scammy...
Received a call from this number stating they were calling from the Fraud Department from my credit union. regarding my CU Visa They had my name and that of my son and gave the last 4 digits of a credit card. They did not give the name of my credit union. I hung up and called the number on the back my credit card and they did not have any alerts on my card and verified no fraudulent transactions. Someone called me from the number 8443869808 . After the phone quits ringing and goes to Voice Mail they hung up and didnt leave any voice message. I suggest to not answer the phone when the caller phones you. The caller may want to know what time/day you pick up the phone to know when you are home, so they would know when to call you again.
