Same as the others. I clicked on an article on my Microsoft Edge browser feed. A creepy computer voice said it had locked up my computer and I shouldn't do anything to get out of it to prevent identity theft. I should call this number - no way! I shut off my internet connection and closed the messages and browser. Microsoft defender doesn't seem to be bothered about it. I am worried about a virus.
Same as the preceding one, except a lot harder to get around and reboot, kept reopening with the same warning that I had been hijacked. Finally held the power off button for a full minute and it rebooted normally. Situation appeared while viewing an innocent story on MSN homepage in Chrome, now idea how someone locked my computer up like that.
Our computer was locked up and we were told not to shut it down. After my husband called this number, I was afraid it was a scam and shut our computer down. It is working fine, but I am hoping I did it soon enough that they didn't have time to get into any of our information.
