I checked the US Census 2020 website and found the phone number given (844-809-7717), so I suppose it's legit - but just don't want to take the chance. As others have said, if they have a problem they can send us a letter if they choose.

I have received several calls from this number, I called back and asked why he needed this info, the more questions I asked, the more he stumbled and told me he could give me a number to call if I had any questions, I said no i'm returning your call, as he continued to stumble, he told me he could not give me any information, but he wanted mine. Shazaam the phone went dead with a busy signal. Too many scams going on and I will never give out any info from these callers. Besides, if I have already filled out my census online...….what part of my application did you not understand?
I called back and the Census just wanted to confirm information they already had (i.e., were there any other people living at my residence I had not previously listed, did I or anyone in my household live anywhere else, etc.). The woman did not ask for my SSN or any financial information.
I also got the automated call saying they are census bureau. The auto-voice wanted me to call back with long ID number. I do not trust it, and like the others, I feel if it was really the Census Bureau they would use the mail to check on anything.
VM says its the US Census in Idaho. I’m not in Idaho and don’t know anybody there. Sounds suspicious. Anybody can fake a caller ID. If it were the Census they would send a letter.

I don't answer robocalls. If it really is the Census Bureau, they should know better than to leave a scamy-sounding automated message. They can contact me by mail.
They keep calling me. Sometimes twice per day. Leaving messages for me to call back. I won’t do it. If it IS the census bureau...they can send me a letter.

they gave me info I had filled out on the census said an initial wrong , asked if they had my permission to change it, not thinking was sleepy , said yes, now I'm worried what will happen , was it fraud.

I've been called several times and they leave a message. The message says they are calling form the U.S. Census Bureau. It sounds like a scam. They would never call, they have always sent a postcard or official paper work via U.S. mail.
Didn't get to phone in time so it went straight to an automated message telling me to call the US census office and quoting a long 'id' number. Checked my paperwork which I kept after completing the census weeks ago. Pretty sure this is a scam.
Called me multiple times and leave message on voicemail that it is United States Census calling and to please contact them and reference an ID no. I have completed my census online and their telephone number does not match any on the census website. I will not return their call.
