Got a call this morning informing of social insurance number being suspended due to suspicious activity. If I wanted more details I was to press '1'. It was an automated call and did not request to speak to a specific person. I pressed '1' and a real person (seemed) answered - had what I would take as a partially thick east European accent. I was asked to give some personal info. My reply was 'I think this is a phone scam' I was given a loud, vulgar response and they hung up.
Got a call from this phone number today in the morning 3/29/2021 , they left no message. It is risky to answer any unknown calls. In a lot of cases they get paid for every pick up call even though they don't get to fleece you. If it's anybody important or that you know they will leave a message on voice mail.
