I received a call from this number saying they were with the Covington Group about a cash advance I had done in 2013 with Personal Cash Advance. She had all of my information including my bank. I told them I had never gotten a cash advance and she said that they would pursue legal action against me. Totally not legitimate.
These guys called my husband at his work and said that he owed $1,300 for an outstanding personal cash loan that was now in collections. They had our email addresses, address, and more information. Not only do we not owe anyone but we have not received anything in the mail regarding this issue. From what I have read above and from my own information and research, I am positive this is a scam. I'm not returning any calls to this number. 1-866-346-7638.

I told her I didn’t know what the hell she was talking about, she said it may be identity theft and she will file for a dispute and I will have to talk with my attorney to get it settled. I told her how can they do this? She said they only need a job and a bank account to take money. But she had my complete address, full name and SSN. How they got it idk. she they said she will mail again something to my address and then take it from there. I don’t think nothing will show up and this is all one big scam. **** them for having my info and I never took no loan out.
Calvin Haze with Covington Mgmt Group called to mediate between me and his client, Personal Cash Advance, saying that I owed for a loan that was originally $500, but is now $1955.87. He could not tell me how, where, and when the loan originated. He said that that his client notified me in the mail in March 2020 - received nothing. He said that they were going to file litigation to put this loan on my credit report, and that I would be subpoenaed, and that I could file a motion in court for discovery to get all of the information that had. Otherwise, they don't have to provide me with anything. He had partial information on me, wrong email address, wrong credit union, and claimed he had a copy of my drivers license. This is fraud. I never had a loan with this company, and my information has not changed in 10+ years, so they should have had no trouble getting a hold of me. Also... all loans go on your credit no matter what, why wouldn't this one? Why is this loan so freaky special? I called the number back asking for the name of the company and the person I talked to. She put me on hold, and came back on saying that I can disregard the call since I am not the person they are looking for.... huh?

But still smells to high heaven to me. Don't give them any info and check your local laws and everything you can.

This number 8663467638 called me yesterday when I was driving. Then it called me again in the morning but I was at work and couldn't answer it. I was trying to call back several times but the line was engaged. I'm sure they will call me again but I feel it's a telemarketer.
