Today, 12/31/21 was the first time, after several times from this number, that a female voice asked to speak to [ my first name ]. I just monitored the call.....She asked twice and then hung up. There was other voices in the background. I read another comment here that indicated it was from St. Jude.....I have given to St. Jude because I think it is a worthy charity. But, placing these nuisance calls and not leaving a message tells me that this is nothing more than money, money, money. I give to some charities that I feel are reputable. This type of telemarketing, I feel is not. I have a policy that I do not give to telephone or "door knockers". There is no way of knowing ahead of time if they are legitimate. I seldom take a persons "word" about their intent or volunteerism. SAD ! But, that's where we are today. And the telephone company's could care less, as do the politicians, to cleaning this SCAM TACTIC up.
888-383-1833 called my home phone on Dec. 9, 2020. Caller ID showed ""800 service."" I called it back. First a recording said the call would be monitored then a feminine voice said it was Saint Jude Research Hospital. She said her name was Diane. Diane must have caller ID because she called me Nancy, which is my wife's name. When I asked how she knew my wife's name, she said Nancy was a donor. Well, Nancy is a donor, but never by phone. I told Diane about ""Who Called Us"" and read the April 19th comments to Diane. She said I should tell everyone that a computer dials the numbers and there is a lag between the call going through and someone actually responding. I'm going to block them. We donate to several charities but I don't want them calling me.
I would receive this phone number 8883831833 on my landline at home for the past month. They are calling mostly during the day time. The caller ID does not list who is calling other than the phone number. The caller would always hang up and not leave a voice message. I do not know how this person got my unlisted phone number. Maybe it is a telemarketer, even though my unlisted phone number is on the Do Not Call list.
