January 19,2024 Received 2nd unsolicited email purportedly from Verizon regarding equipment update and to call 888-692-4560 for an appointment. I took the email to the local on-site Verizon representative for verification and was told the phone number is not Verizon. It's a SCAM. Be careful.
This is the message I received from the number 1-800-837-4966: "Hi it's Verizon again we wanted to check in regarding a prior request to replace the Verizon optical network terminal box which delivers your FIOS service there is no charge for this upgrade to avoid potential service outages or issues please call 1-888-692-4560 to schedule this important service visit.."
I unfortunately picked up call from 888-692-4560 - -a recorded voice said it was ""Verizon"" calling to set up an appointment to install a ""new enhanced box"" to my FIOS service. Then the voice says to call back that number - I do not believe it was Verizon and I would not advise calling back the number. It sounds like a scam or phishing.
