100% fraud 100% scammer

Called my aunt who works at my credit union to confirm the number after receiving a text and several calls from this number. She confirmed the number is my credit unions third party bank.

Most complaints were for phishing, but this number is actually the fraud number used for a credit union, Next Step. They will send an automated message, ask if you recognize a purchase, if not, you are then sent to a LIVE person who will review the purchase in question. They also ask if the card is used by any other person in the household and they ask if you know where the card is located. The caller gives you his/her name and after the problem is resolved, will encourage calling the local branch's number or the credit union's after hours number on the back of the card. At the end, they ask to remain on the line to take a quick survey, again, saying their name.

Phishing: They knew the last 4 digits of my debit card, claimed to be from my bank's fraud alert center, that there was "unusual activity" on my card.

Phishing for account info, watch out

I received a call almost immediately after I made an online purchase from Bed,Bath & Beyond. I see in the comments that someone else had made a purchase from them, too, and were contacted. I'll keep a watch on my accounts, but I believe that my bank would contact me about fraud, not some company out of the blue. Beware.

Called my brother at his house phone from this number. They tried to get info from him. He is 86 years old and in not good health. How do you block these calls.

We got an automated call saying our credit union credit card ending in XXXX has been compromised and is being frozen. (I may be paraphrasing some.) They said to call 833-735-1814, but since I suspected it was a fraudulent call, I had my husband call the number on the back of the credit card instead. It turned out someone had tried to purchase over $200 from Bed, Bath and Beyond, and the charge was refused and the card turned off. He will be going directly to the credit union tomorrow to pick up his new card.

Call came through as possible Scam on 2 consecutive days. Had my FCU name, the last 4 digits of my card and that there was unusual activity. I did not realize that I received the call until I was unable to use my card and reached out to my FCU. They confirmed that someone tried to make a large purchase. Waiting for my new card.

Says my credit union debit/credit card has suspicious activity and will be deactivated unless I call and supply information........funny thing is I'm not a member of any credit union let alone have a debit/credit card from one. TOTAL SCAM!

I called th number back and the automated system ask if my name was something totally different than what it is

Phishing: They had the last 4 digits of my debit card, claimed to be from my bank's fraud dept., that there was "unusual activity" on the card.

Bogus! Automated message purporting to be from my bank about suspicious activity on my debit card. Asked me to call back to lift hold on card - clearly phishing, since my bank confirms absolutely no activity on my card, number unknown to them, could not have placed hold on my card, they do not have any automated service of this sort, my card has no hold on it.

It was indeed my credit union’s fraud detection service verifying recent purchases. Oddly enough this was triggered by adding my card to Apple Pay on my new iPhone.

This call number may have been legit. I got off the phone with my bank just now and they informed me that my debit card had been shut down after a rapid series (13) of small amount charges to the card. They said the call probably came from their Fraud Detection service. The bank manager said they fielded a number of calls like mine alread today. I'm on my way to the bank right now to fill out paperwork. Seems like there's been a large data breach/hack somewhere we don't know about yet, so beware and handle it immediately!

2x, on July 13, 2022, "Unknown Name" showed up on caller id. # is: (833) 735-1894. Automated mentions unusual activity going on with my (new name-change) bank. I will contact my bank reps to verify. 1st time, I didn't listen to entire message. 2nd time (a few mins later), it had my name, mid initial, & last 4 of my card! Seems like this kind of message, on this #, is happening to a LOT of people & in regards to their bank or credit union! Oddly, I will copy/paste a note on this site: "The last time it was checked was 07/14/2022." It's 7:37pm where I live, in the US & it appears as if only the US is being listed...so how can it already be "tomorrow" somewhere else in the US? Hmmmmm...I did hear from my phone company that there were issues with the phone company today, though...

Verified - part of the Banking System Scam Protection with my bank. My card was deactivated. I will go to the bank on Monday to confirm/order a new card with a different account number.

Generic messaging system for my credit union’s fraud detection system, I’m guessing most banks and credit unions use a basic template like this, might even be the same company, for their messages to customers concerning fraud or possible fraud.

Credit Card alert service of many banks and credit unions

Called my daughter and left a message that there was unusual activity on her debit card. She immediately suspected this is a scam.
