Identity theft scams
They are a harassing debt collector calling the wrong number. And when you tell them that the number doesn't not belong to the person they are looking for they keep going with the call. I was able to find out what the debt was for. It was for something that is over 10yrs ago, beyond the statue of limitations in any state (6yrs). Also them that too, they stated that clock resets once they make contact. Which it doesn't especially since I wasn't the person they were looking to speak with. Debt collectors are getting dumber and dumber. So I blocked the number and reported them for harassment. Since they have called several times...even when blocked they can leave a voicemail.
I missed the call, no message left, and I called back and they said they were ""Global Processing Systems,"" which appears to be some sort of credit card merchant company. I have no idea what they wanted with me, so I said ""What do you want"" and she said ""Are you so and so"" and I said no because I didn't know what they wanted and she said ""Okay, we'll take you off the list."" Very strange.
They were asking me to verify information. I didn't know what they were calling in regards. I did give them my address. Now I'm just on the phone waiting to check my identity protection. They were asking for social security information. I called they knew who I was. Then I called a 2nd time and they didn't know who I was. So I hung up and called my protection.
This number 8772523109 called me yesterday and early this morning. I thought it was something important. I'm returning this call now but there is no answer. I'm trying again and now it seems I'm losing the connection. Pretty strange. I think I will ignore this number.
